Missived Terms of Service
Effective date: November 3, 2026
Last updated: November 3, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Longsword Security, LLC (a Texas limited liability company), doing business as Missived, at 1319 Quail Run, San Marcos, TX 78666 ("Missived", "we", "us"). They cover your use of the hosted Missived service: the web app, the desktop apps, the API and everything else we offer at missived.com (together, "Missived" or "the service").
By creating an account, joining a workspace, or using Missived, you agree to these terms, our Acceptable Use Policy and our Privacy Policy. If you use Missived for an organisation (a company, church, club or other group), you agree for that organisation too, and you confirm you're authorised to act for it.
Please read section 16: disputes are decided by the courts in Hays County, Texas. There is no arbitration clause.
1. Who can use Missived
- You must be at least 13 (or older if your country requires it). If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it. (In the EEA and UK the age to consent to us handling your data is between 13 and 16.) If you're under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- We ask for your month and year of birth when you sign up (and once, for accounts made before we asked). We keep only the year and when you told us. We don't check ID: we rely on what you tell us, on reports, and on deleting accounts we learn are under age. Giving a false date of birth breaks these terms.
- People aged 13 to 17 get teen-safe settings that lift when they turn 18: only members of their workspaces can start a direct message or group with them, their email address is hidden from other members, channels marked 18+ are hidden from them, and notifications don't show message text unless they turn that on.
- You can't use Missived if we've previously suspended you for breaking these terms, or if the law forbids you from using it (for example, US sanctions).
- Workspaces that include minors (a youth group, a school club) must make sure they have the permission of parents or guardians that their law requires, and must supervise those spaces appropriately.
2. Your account
- Give us a real email address that you control, and keep your sign-in details safe. We strongly recommend two-step sign-in.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it.
- One person per account. Bots and integrations use the app and API tokens Missived provides for them, not a person's account. Don't sell, share or transfer your account.
3. Workspaces, Owners and members
Missived is organised into workspaces. Whoever creates a workspace is its Owner.
- The Owner controls the workspace. Owners and Admins decide who joins, what roles people have, which channels exist and who sees them, which integrations are connected, whether content encryption is on, and they may remove content, members and Guests. Removed members are told by email. If you join someone else's workspace, what you post there is part of that workspace and its Owners and Admins can manage it. A workspace's Owner can open every channel in it, including private ones; nobody can read a direct message or group chat they're not part of.
- If you set up a workspace for an organisation, the organisation is responsible for how it uses Missived: for its members' conduct, for having the right to put the information it puts in (for example, members' names and details in a Table, or prayer requests), for any notices or permissions its own law requires, and for answering its members' questions about their data.
- Workspace rules. An Owner may set rules members must accept to take part. Those rules are between the workspace and its members; they can add to these terms but can't override them.
- Leaving. Use the workspace menu → Leave this workspace. Access to its channels and calls ends immediately; your messages and files stay for the people still in it. Your account and other workspaces stay. You receive an email confirmation and need a new invitation to return. The only Owner must transfer ownership to another full member first (Org Settings → Members).
- Deleting a workspace. An Owner can delete the workspace (Org Settings → Data). Everyone in it is told by email and in the app and has 14 days to save what they want; any Owner can cancel until then. After that it can't be brought back.
- Ownership disputes. If people disagree about who controls a workspace (for example after a staff change), we'll generally follow the Owner on record and may ask for evidence of who is authorised to act for the organisation.
4. Guests and outside participants
- Guests are people a workspace invites into part of itself (chosen categories) without making them full members. They have an account and agree to these terms.
- Meeting guests join a meeting from a link without an account. They give a display name and, where the meeting asks for it, an email address they confirm with a code. By joining they agree to the Acceptable Use Policy. The workspace hosting the meeting decides who is admitted and is responsible for inviting them.
5. Your content stays yours
- You own what you create. Messages, files, calls, pages, Tables and everything else you or your workspace put into Missived ("your content") belong to you or your workspace. We claim no ownership.
- The licence you give us is only to run the service. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, display, format and process your content only as needed to provide Missived to you and the people you share it with: for example to deliver a message, make a link preview, build a search index, generate a notification, send a digest you asked for, relay to an integration your workspace connected, keep backups, and keep the service secure. The licence ends when the content is deleted from Missived (including from backups, within their retention period).
- We don't use your content for anything else. No advertising, no selling, and no training AI models on it. See our Privacy Policy.
- You're responsible for your content. You confirm you have the rights to it and that posting it doesn't break the law or these terms.
- Shared categories. If your workspace shares a category with another workspace, you're responsible for having the right to share that content with them and for what your people post there. If the share ends, the other workspace keeps a copy of what was shared, and its use of that copy is between you and them. We may end a share that breaks the Acceptable Use Policy.
- Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
6. Acceptable use
You agree to follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In short: nothing illegal, no harassment or hate, no sexually explicit content (and no sexual content involving minors, ever), no spam or malware, no attacks on Missived or other people, no abusing the API, bots or integrations, and no getting around plan limits or security. We may remove content or suspend accounts or workspaces that break it.
7. Plans, limits and pricing
- Missived has a Free plan and paid plans (currently Ministry, Creator and Business). What each plan includes, and its limits (members, storage, upload size, call quality, integrations and features), are described on our pricing page at https://missived.com/pricing. The limits are part of these terms.
- An Owner or Admin can buy and change a paid plan in Org Settings → Billing, on the terms in section 8.
- If a workspace goes over a limit (for example after moving to a smaller plan), we won't delete its content because of that. Some features or new joins may be blocked until it's back within the limit or upgrades. Content behind a feature the plan no longer includes stays stored and comes back on upgrade.
- We may change plans, features and limits. If a change takes something away from a plan you're paying for, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice, and you can cancel before it takes effect; the plan runs to the end of the period already paid for.
8. Payments
- Billing. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, in US dollars, through our payment processor, Stripe. You pay on Stripe's own pages; Missived never sees or stores your card details. Business is billed per active user: a member (not a Guest) who used the workspace in the last 30 days, with a minimum of 3. We update that count once a day.
- Taxes. Prices don't include taxes. Where the law requires it, we work out and add sales tax or similar taxes at checkout (using Stripe Tax), and show them before you pay.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. We'll email the workspace's Owners at least 7 days before a yearly renewal.
- Upgrades and downgrades. An upgrade (a bigger plan, size or more users) takes effect straight away, and you pay the prorated difference for the rest of the current period. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. When fewer people use a Business workspace, the lower count applies from the next bill.
- Cancellation. An Owner or Admin can cancel at any time under Manage billing. The plan runs to the end of the period already paid for, then the workspace moves to Free. Nothing is deleted.
- Refunds. We don't refund partial periods. The one exception: if you ask within 14 days of the first payment for a new subscription, we refund that payment in full. Nothing here limits a refund the law gives you.
- Price changes. We'll tell the workspace's Owners by email at least 30 days before a price change takes effect; it applies from the first renewal after that, and you can cancel before then.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe emails the payer and retries, and we tell the workspace's Owners and Admins. If it's still unpaid after 7 days, the workspace becomes read-only until the payment goes through or an Owner moves it to Free. Nothing is deleted because a payment failed.
- Referral codes. Some codes are shared by people we pay a referral fee. Using one doesn't change your price except for any discount it shows, and we never tell them who used it.
- Who can choose which plan. Any plan is open to anyone. The Ministry plan is shaped and priced for churches, ministries and non-profits, but you don't need to be one to choose it.
9. Integrations, apps and the API
- Third-party services. Missived can connect to services run by others (for example Zapier, GitHub, Twitch, Discord, Telegram, Planning Center, Patreon, an AI assistant). When you or your workspace connect one, you're also bound by that service's terms, and the data it receives is handled under its privacy policy. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for them. They may change or stop working with Missived at any time.
- Apps and bots. Apps that workspaces build or install on Missived, including ones listed in the app gallery, are made by their developers, not by us, unless we say an app is ours. Listing an app in the gallery means it passed our review, not that we guarantee it.
- The API, tokens and the MCP server. You may use our public API (
/v1), bot gateway, webhooks and MCP server under these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy and our developer documentation, including rate limits and scopes. Keep tokens secret; anything done with your token counts as done by you. We may revoke tokens that are leaked or misused. - Building on Missived. If you publish an app for others, you must have a privacy policy that explains what your app does with data, use only the access your users approve, and never use data from Missived for advertising, selling or training AI models. [to be confirmed]
E-signatures
These apply when e-signatures are switched on for your workspace (they are off while in legal review). [to be confirmed]
- The sender's system of record. An envelope and its signed copies are kept in the sending workspace, which is the system of record for them. Laws such as ESIGN §101(d) can require the people relying on a signed record to keep it in a form that can be accurately reproduced later. That duty is yours: download the signed PDFs and certificates you need and keep them with your own records. Deleting a workspace deletes its envelopes. [to be confirmed]
- No warranty about legal effect. Missived provides simple electronic signatures with an audit trail. We don't promise that a particular document can be signed electronically, that a signature will be enforceable, or that any check identifies a signer. E-signatures are covered by section 13. [to be confirmed]
- The sender is responsible. Whoever sends an envelope is responsible for choosing documents that may be signed electronically (never wills, family-law or court documents, documents that must be notarised, certain legal notices, or remote IRS Forms 8879 / 8878), for picking an identity check suited to the agreement, for any disclosure their industry requires, and for having the right to send the document and the signers' details. [to be confirmed]
- We're not a party. Missived isn't a party to any agreement signed with it and doesn't take part in disputes between the people who sign. If asked by a court or by law, we may provide the records we hold under our Privacy Policy. [to be confirmed]
10. The desktop and mobile apps
- We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Missived desktop apps (and, when available, mobile apps) to access the service.
- The desktop apps update themselves automatically. Running an old version may stop working.
- App-store terms (Apple, Google, Microsoft) also apply when you get an app from them, and those stores aren't responsible for Missived. [to be confirmed]
- The source code of the self-hosted edition is licensed separately under its own licence (GNU AGPL-3.0-only), not these terms.
11. Availability and changes to the service
- Features may change, break or be removed, and there may be outages and data loss. Please keep your own copies of anything critical. We don't promise any particular uptime, and we don't offer a service-level agreement on any plan today.
- We may change, add or remove features. If we remove a major feature from a paid plan, section 7 applies. If we decide to shut Missived down entirely, we'll give at least [to be confirmed] days' notice and a way to export your data.
- We may do maintenance that interrupts the service; we'll try to give notice where we can.
12. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using Missived at any time and ask us to delete your account (Privacy Policy).
- A workspace's Owners and Admins can remove you from their workspace and you are told by email. Your messages and files stay there; your account and other workspaces stay.
- We may suspend or end your access, remove content, or suspend a workspace if you or it break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if the law requires it, or if it's needed to protect people, other users or the service. Where it's reasonable and lawful we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it; we won't when the breach is serious (for example child sexual abuse material, credible threats or an active attack) or when telling you would be unlawful or unsafe.
- Your data after termination. Unless we ended your access for a serious breach or the law prevents it, you can ask for a copy of your data for [to be confirmed] days after your account or workspace ends. After that we delete it under our Privacy Policy, including from backups within 60 days. You can also download it yourself at any time (Settings → Security → Download my data), and a workspace's Owners can download the whole workspace (Org Settings → Data → Export this workspace: every channel, private ones included, never direct messages or group chats).
- Sections that by their nature should survive (content ownership, disclaimers, limits of liability, indemnity, disputes) survive termination.
13. Disclaimers
Missived is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, and any warranty that Missived will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that content will never be lost. Missived is not an emergency service: don't rely on it to contact emergency services or for anything where a failure could put someone at risk.
Some places don't allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from or related to Missived or these terms, even if we were told they were possible.
- Our total liability for all claims arising from or related to Missived or these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you or your workspace paid us for Missived in the 12 months before the claim, and (b) US $100.
These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited by law (for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
15. Indemnity
If you use Missived for an organisation or business, you (and that organisation) will defend and indemnify Missived and its people against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your workspace's use of Missived, the integrations you connect, or your breach of these terms or the law. This section doesn't apply to consumers where the law doesn't allow it.
16. Disputes, governing law and venue
- These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, USA, and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
- Any dispute will be decided exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Hays County, Texas, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.
- Before filing a claim, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve it informally within 60 days.
- If you are a consumer living in the EU, UK or another country whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts or to rely on your local consumer law, nothing here takes that right away.
- There is no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver: disputes are decided in court.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version with its date and keep previous versions available. For a material change, we'll tell you by email and in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect (sooner only where the law or a security issue requires it). If you keep using Missived after it takes effect, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, stop using Missived and you may ask us to delete your account.
18. General
- Entire agreement. These terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, the Privacy Policy and anything they link to are the whole agreement between you and us about Missived. A signed agreement with an organisation (for example a Business order form or Data Processing Addendum) takes priority where they conflict.
- Assignment. You can't transfer these terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to our Privacy Policy's promises.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a term, we haven't given up the right to.
- Severability. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- Force majeure. We aren't responsible for failures caused by things beyond our reasonable control.
- Notices. We send notices to the email on your account; you send them to [email protected] or 1319 Quail Run, San Marcos, TX 78666.
- Export and sanctions. You'll follow US export-control and sanctions laws when using Missived.
