Missived Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: November 3, 2026
This policy is part of the Missived Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses Missived: members, Guests, meeting guests, and the apps, bots and integrations people build or connect. Workspaces may set stricter rules of their own; they can't set looser ones.
Don't use Missived to
Break the law or hurt people
- Do anything illegal, or help or encourage anyone else to.
- Share, request or link to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or sexualise minors in any way. There are no exceptions. We remove it, end the accounts involved, preserve what the law requires, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and other authorities as the law requires.
- Groom, exploit or endanger children; this includes contacting a minor for sexual purposes.
- Post or share sexually explicit content (pornography, explicit sexual images, video or text, or links to them), anywhere on Missived, including in channels marked 18+. Missived is used by church youth groups and teams with members as young as 13, and we don't check anyone's ID, so we can't keep explicit material away from minors any other way. Sex education, health and support conversations are fine. A channel marked 18+ is for mature topics, not explicit content.
- Create an account if you're under 13 (or the higher minimum age where you live), give a false date of birth, or help someone under the minimum age use Missived.
- Threaten violence, incite it, or promote terrorism or violent extremism.
- Harass, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone, or encourage others to.
- Attack people for who they are: race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or serious illness.
- Share someone's private information (address, phone number, ID documents, private photos) to harass or expose them, or share intimate images of someone without their consent.
- Encourage or give instructions for suicide or self-harm. (If someone in your workspace is at risk, please contact local emergency services.)
- Impersonate a person or organisation in a misleading way, or mislead people about who you are or who an app or bot is acting for.
- Commit fraud, scams or phishing, or collect people's sign-in details or payment details under false pretences.
- Infringe others' intellectual property or other rights (see Copyright). This includes music and other audio uploaded to a workspace's audio library and played in the Virtual Office (a floor's music or a jukebox): upload only audio you have the right to play to your workspace. The person who uploads it is responsible for it.
- Sell or promote illegal goods or services, including drugs, weapons where the law forbids it, or stolen data.
Spam or abuse the service
- Use Tickets for marketing, newsletters, cold outreach or bulk mail, or impersonate another organisation. Ticket replies are only for people who contacted you or agreed to be contacted.
- Send spam: unsolicited bulk messages, invitations or meeting invitations, or repetitive, misleading or automated content people didn't ask for.
- Create accounts or workspaces in bulk, or by automated means other than our API, or to get around a suspension.
- Upload or link to malware, or anything designed to damage, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to a device, account or system.
- Probe, scan, test or attack Missived's security, or anyone else's through Missived, except under a responsible-disclosure arrangement with us ([email protected]).
- Overload or disrupt the service (for example a denial-of-service attack), or interfere with other people's use of it.
- Access another person's account, workspace, channels or data without permission, or try to get around access controls, encryption, rate limits or other security.
Misuse the API, bots or integrations
- Use the API, bot gateway, webhooks, MCP server or tokens beyond their documented scopes and rate limits, or try to get around them (for example by spreading load across many tokens or accounts).
- Use a person's account as a bot ("self-bots"), or automate a person's account outside the API.
- Scrape, harvest or bulk-collect people's data (including email addresses or member lists) from Missived, or use it to build profiles of people.
- Use data you get through Missived for advertising, to sell it, or to train AI models, unless the people it belongs to clearly agreed.
- Build an app that asks for more access than it needs, hides what it does, or keeps or shares data in ways its users weren't told about.
- Use an integration to relay content Missived doesn't allow, or to pull direct messages or other private conversations into another service without the participants' knowledge.
Get around plans and limits
- Get around plan limits (members, storage, upload size, call quality, features, integration caps), for example with multiple workspaces or accounts used as one, or by modifying the app or its requests.
- Resell, sublicense or provide Missived to others as a service without our written agreement.
- Misrepresent who you are or your organisation to get a plan, price or limit. (Every plan, including Ministry, is open to anyone; this is about false details, not about which plan you pick.)
Copyright
If you believe content on Missived infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent, Cody West, Longsword Security, LLC, 1319 Quail Run, San Marcos, TX 78666, [email protected], with the information the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act requires. We remove infringing content and end the accounts of repeat infringers where appropriate. People whose content was removed may send a counter-notice to the same agent.
Reporting
- Inside a workspace: use Report on a message. Reports go to that workspace's Owners and Admins, who moderate their own space.
- An account that belongs to someone under 13: use Report an underage account on the person (right-click their name or open the member list), or the public form at https://app.missived.com/report-underage if you don't have an account. These reports come to us, not to the workspace. If we confirm one, we delete the account straight away and tell the workspace's Owners only that a member was removed.
- To us: for anything serious, anything a workspace isn't handling, or anything about a whole workspace, email [email protected]. Include links or screenshots if you can. For child safety you can also report directly to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
Words we block automatically
Every message, edit and name (people, channels, categories, groups, topics, statuses and workspaces) passes a word filter before it's saved. Slurs, hate terms and sexually explicit terms are blocked everywhere and can't be switched off. Swearing is also blocked by default in every workspace; a workspace's Owner can switch that off or tune it in Org Settings → Settings → Word filter. When something is blocked, nothing is sent and the person sees a note saying so. We never store or log the blocked text. The filter is a first line, not a judgement: it can't catch everything, and the rules above apply whether or not it does.
What we do
We don't monitor workspaces' content. When we learn of a breach of this policy, through a report or otherwise, we may look at the content involved (see the Privacy Policy) and take action that fits how serious it is: a warning, removing content, restricting features, suspending or ending accounts or workspaces, revoking tokens or apps, and reporting to authorities where the law requires it or someone is at risk. Where it's reasonable and safe, we'll tell the people affected and give them a chance to respond. If you think we got it wrong, write to [email protected] and a person will look again.
Workspace Owners and Admins are responsible for moderating their own workspaces, and Missived gives them tools to do so (roles, channel permissions, AutoMod rules, message reports and removal of members and Guests). People removed from a workspace are told by email; their posted messages and files stay.
